We believe cabinetry is one of the most important parts of a home. Because of its daily use, it must be both functional and durable. Yet cabinetry has the potential to be so much more. By complementing the style of the house, cabinetry can add distinction and beauty to a room that may be otherwise uninspiring.

Through years of working in the construction industry, it has become apparent that cabinetry is not taken seriously enough. We have discovered that it is one of the areas that people tend to cut corners in design, quality of construction, and the final fit at installation. From this observation, came our dream of providing cabinetry that would be well designed to fit the space and the desires of the client, constructed using proven materials and techniques for long lasting durability, and installed with true craftsmanship in mind.

Cabinetry

We have chosen to collaborate with other well regarded businesses that carry out most of our fabrication and finishing for large projects like kitchen cabinets. Smaller, specialty projects, such as built in bookshelves or mantles, are hand crafted by our own team. By choosing between doing the work ourselves or working with one of our two trusted partners, we remain cost effective without sacrificing quality or custom options.

With custom cabinetry, design options are virtually limitless. Our experience as homebuilders coupled with the experience of generations of cabinetry craftsmen will help you to reflect the style of your home in all the woodwork. Choose from specialty moldings, creative design features, and distinctive finish options to make your home one of a kind.

Kempsville cabinetry has been constructing cabinetry for nearly 30 years and Schrocks of Walnut Creek has been constructing cabinetry and furniture for nearly 100 years. Both are currently owned and operated by 2nd and 3rd generation family members. These time-tested companies are constantly developing new techniques to improve the quality of their products.

Cabinetry

Because of the efficiencies that these companies have had time to develop, partnering with these established companies means we can offer a better product at a better price. We can also offer a wider selection of styles, finishes, and hardware. We add value to that by consulting with you and advising on the cabinetry styles to best complement your home.

Craftsmanship is a practiced art. Some of the craftsmen have been with these companies for 20 to 30 years, bringing a wealth of experience to the production of our fine cabinetry. Mortis and tenon face frames and doors take these cabinets to a level of quality which exceeds that of most custom woodworking shops.

Estimate:
We will consult with you and gather the necessary information about your project:

  • How will the space be used?
  • What architectural details would you like to be included?
  • What will be the overall style and finish?

By incorporating as much of this information as possible, we can present an accurate estimate. With every estimate we also provide a floor plan drawing to help you visualize the project.

Drafting:
After we have received a verbal approval of the estimate, we move on to the drafting stage. This includes a visit to the actual location where the cabinetry will be installed. We finalize the layout, architectural details, wood type and finish and provide elevation drawings. If you request a special finish, we have a sample door made to ensure color match.

Production and delivery:
Production takes up to 6 weeks. We plan the project as much as possible so that it can be kept on schedule. The cabinets are individually wrapped in special blankets or plastic, carefully packed into trucks, and delivered directly to the jobsite.

Installation:
The materials for the project are usually delivered at one time. This means we can move through the installation efficiently. We take special pride in our installation techniques by scribing to the walls and floors so that the cabinetry emerges seamlessly. Wherever possible, we avoid adding molding to fill between the cabinets and walls.
